HISTORY
Since
1986, United Cerebral Palsy Association of Greater Suffolk.
Inc. has provided respite services through the auspices of the
New York State Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental
Disabilities (OMRDD). Presently, this program serves 75 individuals.
GOAL
The
goal of the program is to provide the opportunity for time away
from the daily responsibility of caregiving for a family member
with a disability.
ELIGIBILITY
Any
individual with a developmental disability who resides in Suffolk
County.
OPTIONS
OPTION
# 1 - Respite Coordinator assigns a worker to the family.
Family and worker plan and agree upon duties and schedules.
Parents are requested to pay $1.00 per hour and the agency pays
the remainder.
OPTION # 2 - The family screens and hires the worker.
Payment arrangement, duties and schedules are arranged by family.
Parents receive reimbursement up to pre-determined designated
amount.
